Surviving Your First Night¶
Nights in KimetsuCraft are lethal. Demons spawn in darkness and they cannot be killed with normal weapons -- hitting one with a regular sword knocks it down, but it always gets back up. A Nichirin sword is the reliable way to finish a downed demon in melee; sunlight and Wisteria are also lethal sources. Until you have one, your options are to run, hide, or endure. Sunlight burns demons and sets them on fire, so dawn is your reset button -- you just need to last until then.
Before You Have a Nichirin Sword¶
Stay indoors or underground if you have no Nichirin sword yet. Treat demons like vanilla's first night, except these don't die at dawn on their own if they're in shade. If you spawn near purple-leaved trees, you're in a Wisteria biome -- set up camp there immediately. Wisteria repels demons and damages those caught near it. Mark any Wisteria biomes you find on your map; they're your fallback when things go wrong. Don't try to fight demons without a Nichirin sword -- you waste durability and gain nothing.
Getting Your First Nichirin Sword¶
Your first real priority is crafting a Nichirin sword. Head for the mountains to mine Nichirin Ore at high altitudes, refine it at a Nichirin Forge, and shape your blade. You might find ore while sheltering up there, so the detour pays off twice. For the full crafting chain, see Nichirin Crafting.
Once you have a Nichirin sword, you can start executing demons, earning XP, and working toward a breathing style. The first night is the hardest. After that, you're the hunter.
